Interesting. Obama Wins (ties) MI, Clinton does not

There has been a lot of emotion invested in the FL & MI primaries and what may or may not happen with the delegates.

Some people, including the Clinton camp, have blamed Obama for MI losing their delegates. Though this is ridiculous on its face sometimes people want to lay the blame somewhere and they might listen to this sort of talk.

A new poll out of MI has some interesting results.

In an Obama/McSame matchup, Obama leads McSame by a small margin (43-41). Really a statistical tie.

In a Clinton/McSame matchup, McSame leads Clinton by a large margin (46-37). This is likely outside the margin of error.

McSame is viewed favorably by 59% of those polled, Obama 55%, and Clinton 45%.

42% want Obama to be the Dem nominee vs. 37% for Clinton.

The good news is that only 31% said they planned to vote for a Republican and 43% said they planned for to vote for a Dem.

So I'm interested in thoughts on this. Clinton has made a big deal about sticking up for MI now. But she's doing very poorly when compared to Obama.

Any ideas why?

What is interesting (none / 0)

is that Nader gets so much of the vote 8% in the Obama match up, 10% in the Clinton match up.

Something is weird in this poll or in Michigan.

It makes sense right now (none / 0)

As the primary heats up, Obama supporters are mad at Clinton and vice versa; those 'Democrats' who aren't willing to vote for Obama or Clinton but don't want to pick McCain either will go to Nader as a third choice. I expect that number to drop significantly after the convention.

Re: Interesting. Obama Wins MI, Clinton does not (2.00 / 1)

Hmm...well, maybe Obama will do the democratic 'thing' now and allow for re-votes in MI instead of blocking them altogether or calling for a ridiculous 50/50 split

I'm not sure how he controls the MI legislature. Can you hip me to that?

Actually 50/50 seems about right. 55/45 would be more fair I think since that's pretty much how the vote broke down.

Re: Interesting. Obama Wins MI, Clinton does not (none / 0)

It's amusing that some claim Obama is blocking a resolution when it's Hillary who is holding out for ALL of the delegates (her votes + uncommitted).

It could easily be resolved if she settled for 55% of the delegates. But, of course, that would do her no good in catching up and she would lose an excuse to criticize Obama and drum up contributions.

Wait... If Obama was really blocking Michigan... (none / 0)

... why is he ahead of McCain there while Hillary, the Champion of Democracy©, gets her ass handed to her?

Aren't Michigan voters furious about all of this chicanery?

Re: Interesting. Obama Wins (ties) MI, Clinton doe (none / 0)

I've said Obama should take the revote in Mi...if Dems who voted in the R Primary are also able to revote.  I think he would win.
